Thursday, September 19th, KWCPS invites you to attend a Fireside Chat with the First Lady of Virginia, Suzanne Youngkin, and social psychologist, Dr. Jonathan Haidt, as they discuss social media and cell phone use among children. Join us virtually on the division's YouTube Channel. Afterward, complete a brief survey on the effects of cell phones and social media and how policies and practices might be shaped to address those concerns.
The links to our YouTube channel and the survey can be found on the KWCPS website. We hope to see you there!

Last week, our library turned into an exciting forensic exploration zone! 🦴🔍 Students observed various toy skeleton burial mystery sites, relying on evidence to explain the artifacts and attributes they found. With hands-on activities led by Ms. Kass, they sketched and labeled their discoveries! Plus, the library had books on display for them to "dig" a little deeper into forensic science! 📚✨

Mrs. Gregory's science class participated in a fun cross-curricular lesson using resources from @Virginia Agriculture in the Classroom! They used a map to look at the five regions of Virginia to determine what fruits and vegetables were harvested in each region. They discussed vocabulary related to the experiment and reviewed the scientific method prior to the experiment. The students picked a fruit or vegetable to test, made a prediction, and then the class recorded the results. This was a fun way to incorporate history, science, literacy, and math all in one lesson! Great job!!

Our TILT students have spent the past few weeks getting to know each other and building relationships. Today TILT students participated in the first game day of the year! Students practiced taking turns and working on communication skills all while having fun!
TILT stands for Teens Interacting and Learning Together! Students apply in their 7th-grade year to be mentors in Mrs. Gregory and Coach Stone's TILT club. Mentors are model students who work hard on their academics and demonstrate character traits like compassion, kindness, and respect! Way to go TILT!!!
