The HHMS TILT club (Teens Interacting and Learning Together) participated in the King William High School Homecoming parade on Friday, Oct 9th. Not only do TILT members meet each day during school, but they often gather after school to participate in activities and extend those friendships beyond the walls of the school. Thanks to TILT sponsors Mr. Boblit, Mrs. G, Ms. Rice, and Ms. Gresham for creating these opportunities for our students! A great time was had by all!

🍎 Crunch Heard ’Round the Commonwealth at HHMS! 🍎
Last week, our students and staff celebrated Virginia Farm to School Week by participating in the 10th annual Crunch Heard ’Round the Commonwealth! On Thursday, October 8, schools and communities all across Virginia took a unified, giant bite out of fresh, locally grown Virginia apples.
We love supporting our local farmers and celebrating fresh, healthy eating in our school cafeteria! 🚜 crunch! 🍏✨

It’s National School Lunch Week, and we’re celebrating the incredible meals that keep nearly 30 million kids energized, focused, and ready to learn every single day! Ever since President John F. Kennedy founded this special week back in 1962, NSLW has been all about recognizing the power of a healthy, delicious lunch—both inside the classroom and out on the playground. Huge shoutout to our hardworking cafeteria heroes, nutrition staff, and school chefs who serve up smiles, comfort, and nourishment with every tray!

Huge shout-out to our incredible middle schoolers who are crushing the Upstanders Bingo Board Challenge! From sending kind messages to lifting up friends having a tough day, you all are making our school a better place.

The first few weeks of coffee sales have been amazing! The baraistas from the Viking Express coffee have made nearly 50 cups of hot and/or iced coffee! HUGE thanks to Raise, Inc for sponsoring our coffee cart each year which provides valuable vocational skills for our students with different abilities. Thanks to staff for supporting these great students and thanks to Mrs. G and her staff for their work to make this a success each week!!

Our EL students leveled up their communication skills with a fun challenge: describe a monster so clearly that their partner could draw it strictly from verbal clues! 🖍️🎨 They practiced using precise vocabulary, detailed descriptions, and strong sentence structure—first verbally, then by designing and writing about their very own creatures.

Safe to say, their language skills are scary good! 😱💬

HHMS is excited to announce this year's launch of our Esports Club for HHMS students! Esports offers students a fun, competitive environment where they can build teamwork, strategy, and sportsmanship.

Club Details:
All Students Welcome: Any HHMS student in grades 6-8 is eligible to join!
Featured Games: Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros., Rocket League, and Madden 26.
No Equipment Needed: HHMS provides all consoles and game gear; no prior experience is necessary!
Start Date: Monday, October 26, 2026.
Schedule: Scrimmages on Mondays; practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Time: 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM after school at HHMS.
Transportation: Parents must pick up their students promptly at 5:00 PM.

How to Sign Up:
Permission Forms: Students can pick up their permission forms in the SRC. Both required permission forms must be returned to Ms. V before students can begin practicing.
Account Setup: Parents and students will need to set up their accounts by the end of the first week of practice.

​M​rs. Gunter's Earth Science students turned cardboard, foil, and plastic wrap into fully functional solar ovens! After running tests to make sure their designs could trap and hold heat, they put their engineering to the ultimate test: melting marshmallows and chocolate into delicious, sun-baked s’mores. 🏕️🔥
